What five songs would you want to bring with you in this time of loneliness and hot, hot, heat?

Only five!

Alright, looks like I’ll have to go first.

    1. Otis Redding – Try A Little Tenderness
    2. Buena Vista Social Club – Dos Gardenias
    3. Sly and the Family Stone – Hot Fun in the Summertime
    4. Bob Marley – Is This Love
    5. Jimi Hendrix – Foxy Lady

I think this list would definitely suit my “deserted island” mood.

Sorry, if I had to limit myself to only 5 songs I would never survive. How about 5 CDs instead? Here are my picks:
    • A Rush of Blood to the Heads by Coldplay.
    • The Best of the Talking Heads, by the Talking Heads.
    • Pop by U2.
    • Greatest Hits by the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
    • ChangesBowie by David Bowie.

I could live with that… plus I could always just sing other songs I guess… do I get to bring my guitar along to the island?

I always have a ‘song in my heart’ so it would make no difference which recorded songs I got to bring. My voice would still work and I could make up new words to my old songs. I would rather bring someone to share the time with and materials that would help us survive. Loneliness is very hard on ones mental health.

@hcraig – I guess Foxy Lady is pretty out of place with those set of songs, but I think it would just be so cool to groove to all by yourself on an island. I like the raw emotion in the beginning riffs of the song, it just starts off with a great bang. Plus, you’ve ever seen the movie Election, well that’s partly why I find the song as entertaining as I do. :P

I’ve got another set of 5 songs for the “Castaway” adventure!
    1. The Beach Boys – I Get Around (The Beach Boys always capture the epitome of summer sound.)
    2. The Hues Corporation – Rock the Boat (A little disco never hurt anybody, except maybe Lola and Tony from the Copacabana)
    3. Steppenwolf – Born to Be Wild (I’d probably listen to this while I go hunting for fish or something, hehe
    4. The Rascals – Groovin’ (which I will listen to while lying on the beach, lazy and sunburned)
    5. Elvis Presley – Moonlight Swim (for, um, moonlight swims, I guess)

Actually, the entire Elvis Presley album “Blue Hawaii” is great, if you like those kind of oldies.

Hey Lucy – you should check out Goombay Rock by Sean Costello; I think it would compliment your island adventure.
